Something else disturbing about "Jesus Camp"

One thing I forgot to mention about the documentary "Jesus Camp" is the political indoctrination those poor kids received. The organizers of the camp spoke openly about their goal of taking over the political system of this country, first by getting people elected to local offices like school boards, then by fielding candidates in the larger races. At the same time they also openly admitted that they were using their religion to instruct people how to vote in order to elect candidates who would work to advance the evangelical agenda. Their primary target is the overturning of Roe v. Wade (of course, what else?) but if they succeed I doubt they'll stop there. I don't know about you but I have no desire to live in the Theocratic States of America where evangelical Christianity is the mandatory state religion and heresy is a crime. Sometimes in my darker moments I fear that's where we're heading, unless those of us who still desire our freedom speak up and demand change. Flag-waving patriots like to remind us that "Freedom Isn't Free", and they're right, but it doesn't come at the price of giving lip-service to whatever politician or preacher has the loudest voice, tallest pulpit and biggest war-chest. It comes at the price of educating ourselves about the important issues that confront us in our lives, and making our voices heard about our views on those issues. It takes time, and effort, and commitment. But that's a small price to pay, isn't it?
